Why chimneys leak so often

A chimney is one of the few places where masonry passes straight through the roof covering. Every joint around it has to be formed correctly and maintained, and once pointing erodes or a flashing lifts, water has a direct path into the roof space.

Lead done properly

Correctly dressed lead lasts decades. Mortar fillets used as a shortcut rarely do. We use appropriate leadwork detailing so the junction between roof and masonry stays weathertight, which is often the permanent fix to a long-running roof leak.
